Crappy title… couldn’t think of anything clever.
Anyway just some thoughts on buying technology:
Instead of trying to re-create existing technologies/devices, I should just spend the money and buy what someone else has already developed. Not having a lot of free time means I would rather spend my time innovating new things rather the building what already exists.
A good example of this is the car computer. It’s so cheap to buy a car GPS unit. Probably the same price (for a larger screen model) then making a car computer, but the time spent installing, manufacturing hardware… not worth it.
Same goes for the house music server thing.
And everything else.
I have decided that if the technology/product already exist, and is not extraordinarily more expensive, I should just buy existing technology instead of trying my hand at a DIY version.
Life is too short to be copying others. I want to spend my free time being innovative, and trying to create/develop NEW ideas and technologies.
