Alright, we’ve set it
up and you won’t be surprised. We pulled the plug. We’d
been on the road for almost two weeks and things just weren’t
going as planned. We couldn’t bike and climb like we were hoping
and there were just too many of mother nature’s obstacles to overcome
- it was too hot, too wet or too high (not us, the atmosphere) and the
motel bills were starting accumulate. The
drive home was done over two days. No more aimless driving through the
great US of A. It was all about getting home – actually, it was
all about heading north. North, to the comfort zone, where living at
sea level and moderate temperatures is appreciated. We did take just
enough time to stop off at Nick & Willy’s Pizza and Two Brother’s
Deli (yummy goodness; exit 240 on I70). After arriving home in the T-Dot
and laying low for a couple of days we jumped back in the car and headed
north to Collingwood, Ontario, Canada to camp and climb. A couple of
days of climbing and things were good again . . . until day 3, when
it rained and was going to keep raining through to the week-end, so
write local weather reports. Home it was and home we stayed. Until Christmas
. . . we’re definitely going back. We’ll be back for the
cold and the snow, the stuff we’re used to. We’ll be hitting
the hills and the local scene . . . but that’s another story.
Music of the trip: Infected Mushroom – if you’re reading
this note, crank it up.
